Airline talks of safety

AIR Pacific will never compromise passenger safety by dispatching an aircraft with a fault, no matter how small, says airline chief executive, John Campbell.
Mr Campbell made the statements after an aircraft bound for Auckland last week was delayed for more than four hours due to a wiring fault.
Mr Campbell said the Air Pacific flight FJ413 that was scheduled to depart Nadi at 1pm was delayed after final cockpit checks discovered a defect with the left hand over-wing body heat light.
"Whilst undergoing final cockpit checks, a light illuminated advising that the left hand over-wing body heat light was defective."
"Engineers were called to the Boeing 737-800 aircraft and determined that a wiring fault was present. This took a total of three hours to trace and rectify," he said.
"The flight ultimately departed at 5.06pm, a delay of four hours and six minutes," said Mr Campbell. Mr Campbell said all customers were provided meal and refreshment vouchers for consumption at the airport. Mr Campbell said similar arrangements were made for those passengers in Auckland that were to fly into Fiji on the aircraft's return leg.
